Where can I serve?
Jesus told his followers to make disciples of all nations. One of the values here at Delphi Methodist Church is our mission to the world. It starts in our own community and spreads overseas to every nation. We encourage our church to be involved in a variety of opportunities and ministries we offer. If you are interested in becoming involved in one of the ministries, please contact the church office at 765.564.3791.
Missions | Outreach
Delphi Methodist Church is thrilled to be a part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. Every other year, a team from our church travels to Jamaica to assist the missionaries in practical projects and evangelistic outreach. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community. We have sent mission teams to South Dakota, northern Indiana, and southwestern Kentucky. Through sending a missions team and ongoing monetary support, we have partnered with a local congregation in Liberia, West Africa, to support the building of a school and to support other ministries that they envision.
Missions | Local
We believe every place is our mission field, especially in our own backyard. We support and lead several mission ministries in our county. Some of them include Buddy Bags, Mobile Food Pantries, SAWS Ministry, and building beds for children in need.
Music & Media/Technology
God-honoring worship is something we strive for here at Delphi Methodist Church. Church members are involved in our music and drama ministry by playing instruments, singing on the Praise Team, or in the choir.
Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of this church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a responsibility to be stewards and use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. Our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in video and audio formats. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication.
All of these areas are an important part of the ministry of our church and rely on our volunteers using their talents and gifts to glorify God.
The Hospitality Team at our church fills an important role. Ushers and greeters are the first impressions of those entering our church. They are also involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The Hospitality Team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.
We rely on volunteers to keep up with the maintenance of our church grounds. Duties vary from mowing, weeding, planting flowers and trees, mulching, etc. We have a great team of dedicated people to help with this.
Marriages can be difficult to maintain. Misunderstanding, confusion, resentment, and anger can flare up in any marriage. Several couples at our church serve other families as marriage counselors. Their role in listening, understanding, helping, and encouraging struggling couples has, by God’s grace, saved marriages and repaired relationships. Couples have found fresh hope and new joy in a warm and fulfilling relationship with their spouse.
Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, during the morning service, a team of volunteers is praying for our services. Throughout the week, volunteers from our Prayer Warriors team pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs.
